Access to Healthcare

Your Health, Our Priority

Studying in a new city—or sometimes even a new country—can raise concerns about access to medical care. At Hexagone Aviation School, we fully understand these concerns and have implemented a comprehensive support policy to help you navigate the healthcare system and ensure you can easily access the care you need.

Our commitment is straightforward: to guarantee every student a seamless, prompt, and reassuring pathway to competent medical facilities and healthcare professionals, while simultaneously providing information on your rights, necessary administrative procedures, and existing solutions for covering medical expenses.

A Reputable Healthcare System

France has an effective healthcare system that provides efficient care for routine medical needs, emergencies, and specialized medical follow-ups. Thanks to health insurance, Social Security, and private health insurance plans, students have access to quality healthcare.

Beauvais also offers a comprehensive healthcare network that is easily accessible to students:

  • Hospitals and clinics
  • Medical offices and health centers
  • Pharmacies and testing laboratories
  • Dentists, ophthalmologists, physical therapists
  • Psychologists and specialized health services

Everything is nearby, allowing students to seek medical care quickly and easily while they’re in school.

Social Security and Supplementary Health Insurance:
Understanding Your Rights

French Students

French students remain affiliated with the Social Security system, like all insured individuals. They simply need to ensure their Carte Vitale is up-to-date, that a primary care physician is declared, and that they have supplementary health insurance (mutuelle) to enhance the reimbursement of their medical expenses. In the event of a change in situation (address, status, etc.), we will assist you with the necessary procedures with the French Health Insurance (Assurance Maladie).

International Students

For international students, registration with the French social security system is mandatory and free of charge. You can register online at the official website, etudiant-etranger.ameli.fr, as soon as you arrive in France.

Once registered, you will receive a provisional Social Security number, followed by a definitive one. With this number, you can benefit from reimbursements for your medical care, just like any insured person in France.

It is strongly recommended (but not mandatory) to purchase supplemental health insurance to cover expenses not covered by Social Security.

Healthcare in Beauvais:
Available Facilities and Services

Beauvais offers an accessible, student-friendly, and well-served medical environment.

  • Beauvais Hospital Center: Located 10 minutes from the school, it offers emergency services, specialized consultations, and hospitalization.
  • Clinique Saint-Côme: A private facility offering surgical specialties and consultations.
  • Multidisciplinary Health Centers: Grouping general practitioners, nurses, physiotherapists, and psychologists.
  • Pharmacies: Numerous, some with extended hours and health advice.
  • General Practitioners: Available by appointment or sometimes via teleconsultation.
  • Psychologists and Psychiatrists: Referrals possible through the school, or direct appointment booking.

Thanks to this comprehensive network, students can easily access all the care they need, with complete peace of mind.

Medical Emergencies: What to Do?

In the event of a life-threatening emergency, call 15 (SAMU). For non-life-threatening emergencies that require immediate attention, go to the emergency department at the Beauvais Hospital Center.

Other useful numbers:

  • 112: European emergency number (accessible from any phone)
  • 114: for deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals (SMS or fax)
  • 116 117: On-call doctors outside regular hours
  • SOS Doctors: Home visits (service not available in all cities)

This information is posted on school premises and included in the student welcome kit to ensure a prompt response in all circumstances.

Preventive Medicine and Regular Monitoring

At Hexagone Aviation School, we encourage every student to undergo regular medical checkups, especially at the start of their training. Good physical health is essential for progressing through our demanding programs, particularly those that involve flying.

We recommend an annual checkup:

  • Vision and hearing
  • Posture and Physical Therapy
  • Dental health

For student pilots, a medical certificate of fitness is required (Class 2 or Class 1). Hexagone provides a list of DGAC-approved doctors in the area to help with this process.

Mental Health and Access to Support

Psychological challenges can impact academic success. At Hexagone, we take this matter very seriously. Partner psychologists are available for individual consultations, offered in French or English.

We also inform our students about national initiatives such as « Soutien Étudiant » (Student Support), a free and confidential remote psychological support service, as well as local initiatives led by the municipality or universities.

All our staff are trained to identify signs of distress and to guide students towards appropriate support channels.

Specific Support for Students with Disabilities

Students with disabilities receive specific assistance to ensure their access to healthcare. Our disability liaison can direct them to specialized physicians, support personnel, and particular care arrangements (transportation, adapted equipment, home care, etc.).

We are committed to ensuring equal access to the healthcare system for all our students, without discrimination or impediment.
