Eco-actions & Sustainable Transition

A Future-Oriented Aviation School

At Hexagone Aviation School, we have chosen not to view ecology as a constraint, but as a strategic compass. Our school was founded in a world aware of environmental challenges, and from its inception, it has been built with the ambition to be an agent of change.

In the aviation sector, often scrutinized for its ecological impact, we believe that every action, every decision, every innovation can make a difference. Our approach is not to await the imposition of transition; rather, we implement it here and now, at our scale.

A Chosen Transition, From Inception

Unlike other organizations that are now initiating a transition from a legacy model, Hexagone was conceived from its inception with sustainability as a foundational pillar. This choice guides every one of our decisions, investments, and pedagogical approaches.

From the outset, we have prioritized a modern fleet that is more economical and environmentally friendly. Our fuel-efficient aircraft, our commitment to integrating clean technologies, and our preference for latest-generation simulators demonstrate a real, tangible, and measurable commitment.

This philosophy extends to all our practices, including energy consumption in facilities, procurement policies, waste management, digital choices, and employee mobility. Nothing is left to chance.

Raising Awareness to Train Responsible Pilots

Learning to fly also means learning to fly responsibly. Therefore, eco-actions are not merely messages displayed in our corridors; they are integrated into the training curriculum, explained, justified, and practiced.

Each student pilot is educated on best practices:

  • Fuel consumption reduction through precise management of engine RPM and flight paths,
  • Optimized flight planning to avoid unnecessary or poorly calibrated flights,
  • Judicious use of resources (paper, electricity, equipment),
  • Reduction of onboard weight to mitigate carbon impact,
  • Ground operations best practices: economical taxiing, engine shutdown, preventive maintenance.

We prepare our students to be not only high-performing professionals but also ambassadors of eco-piloting and energy efficiency in the cockpits of tomorrow.

Concrete Daily Actions

Within our buildings, offices, classrooms, and living spaces, every member of the Hexagone community actively contributes to the ecological transition. This is achieved through a multitude of simple yet powerful actions when undertaken collectively:

LED lighting and presence detectors help limit energy waste. Selective sorting is implemented throughout our premises, supported by clear educational signage. The use of single-use plastic is prohibited. Supplies are sourced locally or from recycled materials whenever feasible.

Break areas are equipped with water fountains and sustainable alternatives for tableware. Paper communication is minimized due to our digital operations and the use of collaborative platforms. All students have access to their educational resources online, thereby avoiding superfluous printing.

Promoting Sustainable Mobility

We encourage our students and staff to adopt environmentally friendly modes of transportation. Partnerships with local public transport networks are established to facilitate car-free access to the school. Student carpooling is promoted through internal networking tools.

When travel is necessary, we prioritize public transport and raise awareness of low-carbon alternatives. A secure bicycle storage facility is available on our premises, and we actively support local initiatives for cycling-friendly urban planning.

A Sustainable Transition in Strategic Choices

Hexagone's environmental commitment extends beyond symbolic actions. It is integral to our strategic decisions and guides the medium- and long-term development of our school.

This translates into continuous monitoring of industry innovations, the study of new, less polluting aircraft, consideration of partial fleet electrification, and the integration of intelligent simulators into training to reduce the carbon footprint without sacrificing educational quality.

We also plan to support carbon offset projects, in collaboration with committed partners. These initiatives will complement our source reduction approach, aligning with a philosophy of global responsibility.

A Shared Ecological Culture

We do not believe in isolated actions, but in collective momentum. That is why we are multiplying initiatives to foster this culture of sustainability at all levels of the school.

Awareness workshops are regularly offered, in collaboration with associations or industry experts. Poster campaigns and internal communications remind everyone of best practices. “Zero waste” challenges and “green mobility” challenges are organized throughout the year.

Students are also invited to propose ideas, champion ecological projects, and become active participants and ambassadors themselves. We are convinced that environmental commitment becomes a driver of cohesion, personal growth, and shared pride.

A Future-Oriented School

The ecological transition is not an option for aviation; it is a necessity. At Hexagone Aviation School, we have chosen to transform it into an educational, technological, and human opportunity. We do not claim to have all the answers, but we move forward with sincerity, consistency, and ambition.

Our ecological commitment does not make us an isolated school. It makes us a school of our time, clear-sighted about the challenges, responsible towards the future, and resolutely focused on beneficial innovation.

We train the pilots of tomorrow. More profoundly, we cultivate enlightened citizens who are aware of their impact and capable of reconciling technical excellence with environmental responsibility. This, for us, defines 21st-century aviation.
