Buddy System & Mutual Support

A Spirit of Support from Day One

Integrating into a new school, a new region, or a new country represents an exciting adventure… but also a challenge. At Hexagone Aviation School, we are convinced that no one should go through this stage alone. That is why we have implemented a student support system based on solidarity, benevolence, and mutual aid: the Hexagone Buddy System.

This system is more than just an integration tool. It embodies one of the pillars of our culture: human connection above all else. Each new student is welcomed, guided, and supported by a peer – a « buddy » – already integrated into the school, who accompanies them in their first steps within our community.

Building a Trusting Peer Relationship

Upon arrival at Hexagone, every new student – whether French or international – is offered a mentor: a volunteer senior student trained in active listening and support. This « buddy » pair functions as a trusted tandem, fostering the exchange of experience, the transmission of best practices, and the creation of lasting bonds.

The objective is not merely to answer practical questions or help locate a classroom. It is also to provide a human reference point, a benevolent contact person to speak with in case of doubt, difficulty, or simply to discuss life at Hexagone.

Fostering Smooth and Welcoming Integration

The buddy system plays an essential role in academic, social, and cultural integration. It allows newcomers to discover the school, its operations, and its pedagogical tools, as well as student life, extracurricular activities, and daily tips.

Support may include:

  • the organization of courses and e-learning platforms,
  • the operation of the progress logbook or the aircraft reservation system,
  • common administrative procedures (housing, transportation, health…),
  • or advice on local customs, life in Beauvais, and unmissable events.

This informal, direct, and accessible transmission facilitates a smooth transition into student life, free from stress or isolation.

A Catalyst for Openness and Mutual Enrichment

Being a buddy is not just about helping; it is also about personal growth. By mentoring a new student, sponsors and mentors develop their sense of responsibility, listening skills, and cultural awareness. They become true ambassadors of Hexagone's values, fostering a collective dynamic.

These pairings often forge relationships that extend beyond the academic setting. Some maintain connections long after the integration period, sharing flights, study sessions, projects, or life experiences.

This mutual relationship fosters inclusion, solidarity, and a sense of belonging, which are crucial in a demanding learning environment such as aviation.

Comprehensive Mutual Support

Beyond the buddy system, Hexagone cultivates a spirit of cross-functional mutual support among cohorts, instructors, and the educational team. Exchange groups are organized (online or in-person), communities are fostered on the school's digital platforms, and sharing sessions are integrated into the calendar.

A student experiencing a difficulty (academic, administrative, or personal) can quickly find an attentive ear and an appropriate solution, whether from their peers or the Hexagone team.

Mutual support is integral to our DNA. It is evident in our pedagogical approach, in how instructors guide each student, and in how the student community collaborates, shares resources, and progresses collectively.

An Environment Conducive to Trust

Thanks to this culture of support and exchange, every student can thrive in a reassuring, human, and stimulating environment. No one is left alone to face their challenges. The buddy system, mutual aid groups, listening points, and available resources are all designed to foster a climate of trust and benevolence.

This climate is particularly valuable for international students, who are simultaneously discovering a new educational system, a new language, and a new culture. The buddy system provides them with human support upon arrival, enabling them to quickly adapt.

A School Where We Progress Together

At Hexagone, we deeply believe that individual success is achieved through collective strength. The Buddy System and mutual support embody this conviction. They serve as a reminder that the school is a place of training… but also a place for living, connecting, and fostering solidarity.

This initiative aligns with a comprehensive vision: to make our school a space for personal growth, mutual respect, mutual aid, and humanity. A school where everyone can elevate themselves by helping others to do so as well.
